A Cute Way To Use Tulips As Favors...

By Carla Carlise
DIY: Tulip Bulb Favors

I was so thrilled to come across this DIY project at ProjectWedding.com that uses Tulips as wedding favors. They are so cute, guests would just love them. It is a very cost effective way to be green and give a beautiful gift as well.

On a recent trip to a Home Depot in our area,  at the entrance I noticed that they had potted Tulips on sale for just $2.00. There were at least five bulbs per pot, so Tulips can be found quite affordably right now.

You can read the article here on how to make the favors using the paper bags as seen in the photo above but what I love about this project is that you can also use the favors as centerpieces . By grouping a few of them together  in just the white Solo cups, I think they would make an adorable table display. You can always personalize the cups with permanent marker and add ribbon from a Walmart or Michaels near you.  A nice touch  would be to add personalized ribbon instead from Efavormart.com and that way you'll be saving yourself half the work but get just as charming a result.

So take this idea and run with it... make it yours, find a way to make it suit you and your personality. I'm sure what you come up with will be brilliant.

DIY - A Perfect Pear Centerpiece That will Last Forever!

By Carla Carlise
http://collectionsbykathleen.com/images/Spring%202009%20web%20pics%20032.jpg

This centerpiece is very easy and very affordable to make, plus all you need are decorative pears  which you can find for $4.99 per bag of 12 at save-on-crafts.com and any vase of your choosing.

You can find the vase above here for $7.49 but you can choose any from this page on the site.

Once you have the pears and the vase you want to use, just place the pears neatly into the vase. That's all the effort you need to make this centerpiece an yet it will last for as long as you want. That's pretty amazing.

Are you Watching Four Weddings on TLC?

By Carla Carlise
http://www.lovetripper.com/weddings/uploaded_images/20098_IMG_4950-793341.JPG

One of my latest bridal T.V. obsessions is TLC's Four Weddings which airs Friday nights at 10/9c. On the show, fours brides get to attend each others wedding to judge it and give scores on the whole experience. They have to rate the food, the dresses, the venues and their overall experience.  The bride with the most points at the end of it all wins a five-star honeymoon. So why do I love this show? Well, besides the fact that it's about four weddings that I get to take ideas from, I also get to hear some honest critic about what these ladies, guests, think about certain parts of a wedding.

My big lesson from last week's episode was that you can't wow your guests with the decor in the ceremony then go low key at the reception. Guests will be expecting to be wowed at the reception as well. That was just one many but I was also reminded of how much guests love a dessert table, and that many are there for you but for the food as well.

Don't get me wrong, you might be tempted to make some revisions to your own wedding after hearing what some of the brides say but you'll also get some wonderful ideas.

So watch it tonight...get inspired and let me know what you think!!

By Carla Carlise
babys breath.jpg

My family and I were driving down the highway last Tuesday and I began to notice that there were so many Gypsophila or Baby's Breath along the roadside for miles. Immediately I thought " free wedding flowers." When we got home I went online to see how others have used this flower at their wedding and I was excited to see it in Pew Decorations, Wedding Bouquets, in Centerpieces and even Corsages.  Just keep an eye out for it as you drive about town on  errands. When you do find them, you start to realize that they grow wild almost everywhere.

Bridal Bouquet
Total Price: $3.00

Ribbon you can buy at Walmart for $0.33 per yard in the color of your choice to match your wedding theme, but I would suggest white or Ivory to match your wedding dress.

For the pin you can buy them online here for $0.69 or find them at Walmart or any floral or fabric store. I love the ones below because they give us that platinum bling factor that will make the bouquet looks like you spent way more than you did making it.

DIY - Beach Favor Candy Pail

By Carla Carlise
BUCKET.jpg

For those planning a beach wedding, I thought this diy project from OrientalTrading.com would delight you. All the items you'll need you can find them here on the site but keep in mind, you don't have to limit yourself to the candy pail. I'll be using the ribbon detail with the starfish and adding it to a favor box or bag for the seashell candles I'm making for our guests.

MATERIALS:

  • White Tinplate Pail with Handle
  • Blue Organza Ribbon Roll
  • Starfish Assortment
  • Pop Up Glue Dots
  • Glue Dots

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Place at least 3 glue dots spaced evenly around the top of the bucket.

2. Place ribbon around the top of bucket, and add one more glue dot to secure in place.

3. Tie ribbon to create a bow or cut a separate piece to make a bow and glue to the bucket seperately.

4. Use one more glue dot to add a starfish to the bow
.

It's that easy!
