DIY Skin Moisturizer or Eczema Cream!!
By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
This homemade moisturizer was recommended by a friend so I am sure it with you all so you can try it too.
What you'll need:
- 1/4 cup of oats
- 3/4 cup of coconut oil
- Few drops of rosemary oil {optional}
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- Finely grind the oats to a powder/flour consistency and set aside. You can use a blender, food processor or a Magic Bullet type of appliance.
- Over a low heat, melt the coconut oil in a pan until it has a liquid consistency.
- Add in a few drops of Rosemary Oil, if you are adding it.
- Add ground oats in the pan and mix until well blended.
- Now, pour the olive oil into the mixture until blended.
- Once all ingredients are mixed, remove from heat and pour in to a small storage container like a baby food jar and let it harden for several hours.
- WHY OATS? Oatmeal contains healthy fats. When they come into contact with your skin, these fats help to add moisture to soften and repair your skin.
- WHY COCONUT OIL? Coconut oil works wonders as a moisturizer for all skin types, especially dry skin and aging skin, leaving you refreshed and looking wide-awake. The fat in the oil helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles without any irritation.
- WHY OLIVE OIL? It is a great skin moisturizer, in part because it contains linoleic acid, a compound not made by the body, but which prevents water from evaporating.
- WHY ROSEMARY OIL? Rosemary essential helps in toning your skin and removing dryness.

DIY Nail Art With Jamberry Nails
By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
There is a nail art craze going on and the latest things to hit the market are Jamberry Nail Shields! If you are into nail art and you haven’t heard about Jamberry Nails then prepare to be amazed because with just your hair dryer, you can wrap your nail over 150 different stunning nail designs!

I excitedly tried the Black and Red Fleur-De-Lis Lace Nail Shield and loved it. To apply the shields, I simply cleaned my nails with alcohol, as recommended by Tabitha of www.dragonfly.jamberrynails.com but you can use nail polish remover too. I filed my nails a little, buffed the tops and pushed back my cuticles. The hardest part, which wasn‘t that hard at all, was figuring out the right nail shield that matched best with each finger.
Once, I selected the ones I wanted to use, I heated my shields for about 20 seconds, maybe more, to make sure they were warm and flexible which made the application process a breeze. After applying all the shields to my left hand, I blew them for about 5 minutes on medium heat while I watched T.V. and then did the same for my right. I made sure to keep the heat from the hair dryer moving and kept it about 12 inches away from my hands. After my nails were pretty, I lathered my hands with lotion to keep them from drying out from the heat!

I applied lots more heat to each nail once I pressed them on firmly and this step is definitely a must if you want new manicure to look perfect beyond a week.

As I mentioned before, there are over 150 different shield designs! So, you can choose something bridal like the “Silver Floral on Clear” or the “Grey and White On Lace” both or which are very elegant. If you want your nails to be your something blue, there is “Viking Blue” which I love and “Sapphire Blue Sparkle” for you to chose instead.

Your bridesmaids can save some money on their manicure too because Jamberry Nails have shields to match many wedding theme and colors! If you are planning a vintage wedding, how about the “Yellow Vintage Cross Stitch.” Planning a country wedding, your bridesmaids can wear the “Horseshoes” shield which are cute and lucky! You can also chose something with a floral, paisley or damask design. Of course, if you don’t want them to wear a shield with a pattern, that’s not a problem, you can go with a sparkle nail shield or one with a regular polish look.

Once you try Jamberry Nails you’ll want to keep buying more and more. The good news for you is that right now at: www.dragonfly.jamberrynails.com there is an end of summer sale! If you purchase one (1) sheet of shields you get a manicure kit! If you purchase two sheets (2) of shields, you get a bottle of cuticle oil! If you purchase three (3) sheets, you get sheet two more for free.
