"What's a wedding wishing tree?" was exactly what I asked when a bride-to-be mentioned to me that she was making one for her wedding. I was fascinated by what she was describing and Googled it as soon as I could to see one for myself. I came across an instructional step-by-by guide here at Here Comes The Guide that describes a wishing tree as a Dutch wedding custom where guests are given a piece of paper, either shaped like a leaf or made of card stock. The guests write their wishes to the bride and groom and then hang it on the tree. This creates a gorgeous centerpiece and the tree is placed at the entrance to the reception to wow your guests right when they walk in.

For the guests to write on you can use these rectangle wood tags that cost $0.25 each since they are much sturdier than paper and would hold up better over the years.
