Wedding vendors going out-of-business: how to protect your budget!

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
Cover your bases, brides and grooms. In this day and age, can you afford to lose the time or money if one of your wedding vendors goes out of business? Here are some helpful tips that could prepare you for the worst.

 1. Put all vendor charges, or as much as they allow, onto your credit cards. Should a vendor go out of business, immediately contact the credit card company and tell them of your situation. They may be able to help reduce or eliminate the debt. Consider also contacting the credit companies prior to putting the charges on, as well. Many credit card companies nowadays have strict protection policies that will red-flag or disallow large charges to be put onto the card without proper communication first from the card owner.

In the Sex and The City Movie the Bridesmaids Dresses Were All Very Different...

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
sex and the ciy.jpg

In the first Sex and The City movie the bridesmaids dresses were all very different from each other which I think is so cool. Brides are changing the way they think about weddings today and I love it. Check out how these real brides stepped away from tradition when it came to dressing their bridesmaids.

Peony, anemone, rose and hypericum berry bouquets popped against the bridesmaids‘ navy and white dresses, which strayed from the traditional solid-color bridesmaid gowns.
To make things easy on her bridal party, Lauren let each pick their own dresses in fall shades of brown, green, orange, yellow, and red. The maid of honor stood out in a printed dress that incorporated all of the colors.
Sheli’s maid of honor and three bridesmaids wore tangerine silk tricotine dresses from J.Crew. Sheli’s nieces, who served as honorary bridesmaids, wore funky patterned dresses by BCX in tangerine, aqua, and chocolate brown.

Who says bridesmaid dresses have to be a solid color? This pretty pattern made these Arianna Papell creations stand out.
Each of Amber’s five bridesmaids wore a tea-length dress made from chocolate-and-ivory paisley fabric, tied with a lemon-hued linen sash. Chocolate suede peep-toe wedges completed their look.

Anh’s four attendants went for a fun and simple look with strapless linen dresses in an espresso brown floral print that added dimension and flare to the tea-length dresses. Their bouquets of pink mini calla lilies, roses, and orchids gave the ensemble a ...
Hayley designed the bridesmaid dresses, which were custom-made to match the couple‘s wedding colors. The aqua, silk dupioni, knee-length dresses featured a red cummerbund at the waist.
Renee’s three bridesmaids each wore a different dress by BCBG in the wedding’s bold colors -- one orange, one blue, and one in green.

Elegant Card Box Alternative for $5.95 -$9.99

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
I love the idea of using hat boxes as card boxes by just cutting a slit in the top of them and adding some tape to the cut ends. These are just two of the many I found online that would match any wedding theme since they are white, but you can find many colorful hat boxes at Hobby Lobby or other retail stores for under $10.00.

  • -Ice cream
  • -Chocolate-Orange Cream

1. Spoon Cream Puff Dough into 10 equal mounds (about 1/4 cup each) about 2 inches apart on two lightly buttered 12- by 15-inch baking sheets.

2. Bake in a 375° regular or convection oven until puffs are golden, 25 to 35 minutes; if baking the sheets at the same time in one oven, switch their positions halfway through. With a wooden skewer, poke each puff in several places, then continue baking until golden brown, dry, and crisp, 5 to 8 minutes longer. Transfer puffs to racks to cool completely.
