So many wedding cakes these days are made with fondant which may not taste the best but can be decorated much easier. If you want a traditional wedding cake then a butter-cream cake is a much cheaper alternative to a fondant cake, even if you were to do it yourself.
The YouTube video above is perfect of any of small budget bride who want to take on the task of making their own wedding cake. The video goes through step-by-step from beginning to end teaching just how to bake a lemon wedding cake and frost it with butter-cream icing.
Of course you do not have to create the butter-cream real or fake flowers on your cake instead. Below I have a list of the supplies mention in the video and where you can find flowers and other edible decorations that you can use on your cake to make it look as good as it will taste.
You can find almost everything you'll need at Walmart or online at Amazon.com but if you are shopping online I love this website CakesBySam.com. There you'll find the dowels that I've listed below for $2.75 for a 4 pieces, cakes pans, just about everything you need for baking at an affordable price.
4 pk Plastic Dowels - $2.75

Round Cake Cardboards $0.20 - $0.99

You can also find edible flowers to decorate the cake HERE at CakesBySam.com. Below are some examples of what you'll see there.

Velvet roses that look like the real ones, you can see those online HERE at Efavormart.com as well as oat Efavormart.com.
