The red tulips in the centerpieces not only held sentimental value, they achieved that sleek and modern look Leigh wanted, when arranged in turquoise glass vases.
If you are trying to save money on your wedding, one way to cut cost is choosing to have small, simple table centerpieces. You don't have to place a large, over-the-top centerpiece on your table to make it look stellar. To prove this point,  I've compiled a list of photos from TheKnot.com that will show you that small and simple can be breath-taking too.

(This has been a favorite so decided to move it to the front for all the new members!)

Small flower arrangements of orchids and snake grass in bubble vases added a splash of color to the cocktail tables.
Chocolate linens and apple green napkins covered the tables. For the centerpieces, hurricane vases displayed earthy arrangements of wheatgrass, gerbera daises and green apples.

The couple placed cocktail tables on a patio to encourage guests to leave the reception tent and get a view of the nearby cities. The simple table decorations, a pincushion protea on a bed of stones in water, didn’t compete with the surrounding city light...
The couple thought outside the vase for their unique arrangements: Blue ribbon tied dahlias to vases, which each held a candle inside. With a setup this surprising, the couple didn‘t need more than one bloom per centerpiece.

Simple, striking, large, glass vases were filled with geometric branches and hanging capris strings.
Round tables topped with various colored flowers brightened the reception room.
Tea tins filled with purple, orange, and green flowers graced each table at Leigh and David’s reception.
Striking tropical floral arrangements gave the white and black décor a dash of energetic color with orchids submerged in water along with tuberose and curly willow, green calla lilies, kumquats in vases with birds of paradise, and hot pink freesia wr...
The bride, her mother, her aunt and her cousin arranged the centerpieces: simple groupings of spider mums.
Stacey and Frank shipped green IKEA vases to St. Lucia, which they used as centerpieces. Each was filled with a few simple sprigs of white orchids. Frosted votive candles surrounded the arrangements on the tables.

Eye-catching anthuriums were displayed in cylindrical vases filled with clear crystals and wrapped in silver wire.

Tricia and Jon thought outside of the vase and bundled wheat shafts sprinkled with glitter and tied with orange ribbon. Small votive candles drew attention to the creative centerpieces.

Table numbers were printed on white cards backed in orange card stock and tucked into the centerpiece vases with wire.

Each table had a mixture of short vases and flowers to prevent the guests from having to talk over large centerpieces. Plus, the bride really liked the idea that each table looked different, an effect that was achieved with white and yellow tulips, hydra...

The high and low centerpieces added a nice dimension to the room. The striking floral pieces included pale green pears, white hydrangeas, pink roses, snapdragons, lilies, hanging amaranths, lemon leaves, fall foliage, and hypericum.
The pew buckets filled with hydrangeas for the ceremony doubled as centerpieces for the reception. Jillian opted to place the flower-filled buckets on square mirrors and surround it with votives.
Each table was topped with a different kind of centerpiece, varying high and low. “My favorite flowers were the fluorescent gerbera daisies,” Kelly says.

You can find affordable vases online at save-crafts.com and at dollartree.com for $1.00.
