Unique Venue to get married- An Aquarium

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
Facility Rental downloadable brochure

Can you imagine having your wedding at an aquarium for guests to have the experience of seeing many aquatic creatures in person for the first time in their lives while they celebrate in thei excitement of your union. I am sure it would certainly be a wedding that guest will remember for a long, long time. Here in TN it is not that costly to do at all. The packages range from $1300 - $2400 depending on which area of the facility you wish to host your event. For the most expensive package,
"... guests can start out with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres inside Ocean Journey while perusing through our lagoon area petting baby sharks and stingrays; strolling through a luscious garden bursting with butterflies; then heading downstairs to discover a world teeming with sea life.

Next, your guests can wander over to River Journey and continue their evening where river otters swim and play inside a cove forest, alligators and snapping turtles lurk inside a delta swamp, and amazing seahorses and sea dragons shine. Then, gather round for a night of toasting, dining and dancing"

And for $1300, you can,"Turn your wedding reception into a tropical soirée. With spectacular views of the riverfront, a breathtaking lagoon-like area, and some of the most spectacular undersea life, your guests will never forget your big day. Bring in some light music and enjoy your own private oasis inside the new saltwater aquarium all evening long."

The Aquarium requires you to choose from their list of caterers which aren't very expensive. One actually offer a package for about $15.00 per person.

So if this idea excites you, check and see if an aquarium near you offers similar packages as well.

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings

Have you heard of David Tutera? Well, he is wedding planning genius and he has been the host of Get Married on Lifetime and he's also on WETv hosting My Fair Wedding, a series in which he goes in  at the last minute and transforms the weddings that the brides have been planning into something out of this world. I love his work.

Well, he has now teamed up with Disney to offer bride's a fairy tale wedding in what they are call the Disney's Couture Wedding Collection. They offer bride's a Simple Chic package, Classic Elegance, Cocktail Soiree as well as an Enchanted Garden package to choose from. I personally love the Simple Chic version, pictured below.

A Hotel as a Venue might be right for you!

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd

Hilton Garden Inn Fairfax Hotel

There are three primary venues that you must secure for your wedding weekend – a ceremony location, a reception location, and a block of guest rooms. When chosen separately, this will require 4 separate points of contact for 4 separate arrangements. Why 4? Because now you need transportation to move your guests from their hotel to the ceremony, from the ceremony to the reception and, most importantly, a sober ride to get them safely from the reception back to their hotel. In choosing a hotel, you can book all three with one agreement, through one point of contact and thereby eliminate the cost and added effort involved in contracting for transportation between the three.

In addition to securing a venue, you must also arrange for catering, staffing, decorations and equipment rental to ensure a beautiful and tasty event. For most venues, these will be 2 – 4 additional contracts with 2 – 4 additional managers or specialists and sometimes it still leaves the work of calculating how much you need of each entirely up to you. However, hotels not only offer the food and beverage, tables, chairs, dance floor, linens, china, centerpieces, lattices, arches, candles, etc., but they also offer one point of contact who can supervise the experienced coordination between departments and staff so that you are assured in having a beautiful and well rehearsed event that doesn’t run out of food or drinks. As a bonus, since everything is located on-site, you don’t have to worry that the caterer or rental company may have forgotten to pack the soup spoons or silver platters.

When you start planning your wedding, you suddenly find yourself in a position to hire vendors that you’ve never had to hire before. There is a wealth of information available to you, and each option looks as beautiful and elegant as the next. How do you know if they will really deliver on their promises? Here again, with a hotel, you get not only a great venue and catering manager to guide you through the planning process, but also the assurance of a strong industry name such as Hilton. With the support, training and experience of an international company behind your planning, you know that it’s going to be a fabulous event. As an added bonus, you can get frequent traveler points on your wedding that you can later apply to a vacation or other rewards.

While as a bride, you have many venue options available to you, you must also consider your own time and budget constraints. Hotels offer inclusive packages that are not only a great value for your budget, but also offer many services and amenities that can relieve you of additional tasks such as negotiating with additional vendors, arranging for transportation and doing research on every separate caterer, equipment rental, and linen company in town.

Where to Find Free Wedding Venues?

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd

Do you know where to find free wedding venues? We all know our own back-yard is a free option if it's spacious enough, but you can also hold your wedding or just the ceremony at a local park, a near-by beach, your friend's back-yard and some churches would offer their party room for free for the reception once you pay to have ceremony at the church. Of course these  places may not sound the fancy or even elegant but with the right decor even a drab site can sparkle and shine!
