Planning for Kids at Your Ceremony

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd

If there will be small children involved in your wedding, either your own or young siblings or relatives, you need to take a few precautions to make sure the day is joyous for them, too.  When deciding on flower girls and ring bearers think twice about asking children who live far away. It’s not a bad idea, but you need to make sure they have ample time to get to the wedding location. Young adults can be fitted for outfits in their hometowns, but children’s nerves flair up easily. You might find at the last minute that young ones have stage fright. Rehearsals can help a lot, but any doubts you have should be discussed with the parents of the children, so no one’s feelings are hurt.

How to choose the perfect ceremony and reception spots for your special day!

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd

When it comes to to choosing the perfect wedding ceremony and reception locations for your special day, there is a lot to consider. As a bridal consultant, people often ask me if I know of the “perfect spot” for their nuptials.

That fact is that I know of several “perfect spots”, but they may not be the right fit for your wedding! Many brides are shocked these days, when I explain that nearly one third of their wedding budget will be spent on the reception, and that amount will usually only include food, rental fees, and beverages. Also, if they choose to host an open bar, that figure will increase.

So, how do planners choose the right locations for their clients?

Why budget brides love Craigslist!

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
I've heard many reports from brides planning a wedding with a small budget who bought many of their wedding things, new and used, from Craiglists. Well, I decided to do a general "Wedding" search in the for sale section for my area, Nashville TN, and I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. Here are just a few of them.

Wedding vendors going out-of-business: how to protect your budget!

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
Cover your bases, brides and grooms. In this day and age, can you afford to lose the time or money if one of your wedding vendors goes out of business? Here are some helpful tips that could prepare you for the worst.

 1. Put all vendor charges, or as much as they allow, onto your credit cards. Should a vendor go out of business, immediately contact the credit card company and tell them of your situation. They may be able to help reduce or eliminate the debt. Consider also contacting the credit companies prior to putting the charges on, as well. Many credit card companies nowadays have strict protection policies that will red-flag or disallow large charges to be put onto the card without proper communication first from the card owner.

Elegant Card Box Alternative for $5.95 -$9.99

By Carlise (Carla) Shepperd
I love the idea of using hat boxes as card boxes by just cutting a slit in the top of them and adding some tape to the cut ends. These are just two of the many I found online that would match any wedding theme since they are white, but you can find many colorful hat boxes at Hobby Lobby or other retail stores for under $10.00.
